“Kipin edtech provides digital quality tool that is safer for students and digital ecosystem that support better character development from early childhood.”

Indonesia’s education system is facing a critical warning—not merely about curriculum, infrastructure, or unequal access to education —but about a moral or character fracture: the erosion of honesty. A recent Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) found that cheating remains rampant in 78% of schools and 98% of universities. These figures aren’t just statistics—they are signals that the moral compass of education is faltering.

When cheating becomes normalized, schools risk producing generations accustomed to shortcuts. A student who cheats in school may likely apply the same behaviour in the workplace, relationships, and public life. Education, ideally, should be a place to nurture not only knowledge but also integrity and ethical responsibility.

Some schools are now taking firmer stances. A school can expels students for any cheating violations but is it too harsh? Does such measures underscore the need to protect the core values of education—especially honesty. A school can also introduced a “final warning” letter system in response to cheating, to show that character formation is taken seriously.

Yet, rules alone aren’t enough. Schools must build ecosystems that foster honesty through consistency, mentorship, and positive modelling. Unfortunately, our education culture often prioritizes test results over moral growth especially in early childhood. Students are pressured to achieve high scores, sometimes at any cost, making cheating seem like a survival tactic rather than misconduct. This flawed incentive system needs a radical shift.

Here is where technology can help. Kipin, an Indonesian EdTech platform, offers a different solution, Kipin promotes honesty as a core educational value—featuring hundreds of comic books and digital content focused on ethics and character building.

More than that, Kipin include a smart digital evaluation system called Kipin PTO for various types of assessments such as exams, portfolios, and survey forms. Kipin PTO empowers teachers with tools to prevent cheating. The system can randomly rearrange questions, assign different versions to each student, and even detect browser-based cheating attempts using AI.

What makes Kipin especially relevant is its adaptability. The platform doesn’t rely on internet connectivity—through its exclusive EduSPOT technology, schools in even the most remote regions can access high-quality learning tools and testing systems without needing online infrastructure.

True education must go beyond academic success. It must restore moral courage ecosystem. Teachers must act as moral leaders, and parents must align their expectations with ethical values. The school digital platform and assessment should evolve too—toward diverse methods like honesty projects, character discussions, and real-world integrity applications, not just exams. Kipin platform provides many literacy materials on this to make teachers job easier.

Cheating isn’t a trivial issue that can be easily ignored—it’s a sign of deeper cultural decay. If unaddressed, it could nurture future leaders lacking integrity. That’s why we must collectively reignite the moral light of education. We must champion honesty over rankings, and character over grades. Because real progress isn’t measured in just scores, but in the kind of future citizens the school will raise.

Before the yellow light turns red, it’s time for all of us to act—not just with hard rules, but with proper quality digital learning ecosystem in school plus our courage, compassion, and commitment to rebuild integrity at the heart of education.
